ARCHIVES, an innovative arts organization is carving its niche as an unconventional arts experience composed of Louisiana-based artists, emerging and established. Rooted in the belief that art is not just a product but a dialogue, ARCHIVES is on a mission to provide a platform where artists can flourish, connect, and freely express themselves outside the parameters and restrictions of galleries and museums. Through this exhibition series, ARCHIVES seeks to amplify the voices of the rich tapestry that is Acadiana’s cultural and artistic landscape.
The inaugural exhibition of the ARCHIVES series, “Systems,” is scheduled for October 5th, 2024, and will serve as a dynamic exploration of the intricate relationships between artwork and the broader contexts of the individual, culture, and society. Artists are invited to dissect, deconstruct, and reimagine the various systems that govern our lives, from the personal to the political,
the societal to the ecological,
the relationships between and within art,
the weaving of distinct elements into a cohesive whole,
frameworks,
networks.
While “Systems” provides a thematic anchor for artists to expand upon, the exhibition remains open to a wide array of interpretations and mediums. Whether visual, performing, or musical arts, this collective seeks to incorporate arts of all forms and mediums, placing every possible form of expression under one roof as a microcosm of creative expression in Louisiana. This year we have partnered with the performance based collective, LoudHouse, to present a joint exhibition featuring over 40 artists in varying stages of their careers. Attendees can expect a unique body of artwork with accompanying performances that have been carefully created and curated for this exhibition.
